Rassure Success Stories Moment – episode 1

No airline likes to pay excess taxes or worse to discover that there has been under collection. All airlines seek to pay the correct tax – no more, no less.

We were reminded of this in two recent audits that uncovered $250K/annum in tax overpayments.
We’d like to share that story with you today, as the first chapter of a series of stories on how RAX can make a difference to increase airline passenger revenue.

So, what is our first story?

Why auto-priced ticketing should not be ignored. We have found that a lot of ticket abuse comes from auto-priced tickets resulting in large undetected losses to the airlines.

Let’s look at two recent examples we have come across:
When performing a regular audit for one of our clients, we noticed a trend over two subsequent Audit months- we detected 2,975 violations for tax code US valued about USD 30,500 from a total of over 726,000 Tickets for the two audit batches. With such a large number, a red flag was raised immediately and further investigation was actioned. In the end, we discovered that it was a bug from one of the GDSs auto-priced tools that didn’t apply the US tax on YQ. This situation was reported for correction.

Another example related to TAX; this time related to GB tax: 101 violations for Tax code GB valued about USD 12,100 were detected in 2 different batches. Again, a mistake of GDS fare filling in RBD Tax application where the economy rate was wrongly applied on RBD D of Business Class and RBD R, O & W of Premium economy. Rassure Immediately highlighted this situation so our client Airline could follow up and rectify it.

In both cases, but for Rassure, the airline would have been incurring increasing exposure and costs. Legacy providers are unable to Audit this type of documents because they are using secondary data to perform the audit (GDSs) and because of that the Airlines are losing huge amounts of money every month. In Rassure every single document counts, and every single document is audited using ATPCO rules.
